The Children Shall Lead Them Production is an educational youth development program located in Columbus, Ohio. The Children Shall Lead Them Production is designed to enrich the lives of young people and their families through the use of literacy-oriented activities and creative expressions. Children 6 and up, are exposed to various genres of literary works (poetry, novels, positive song lyrics, screenplays). This program encourages a love for reading and writing by making literacy relevant to the children’s own life experiences. We also allow children to bring to life the written word. The Children Shall Lead Them Production builds the vocabulary, speaking & thinking skills, self-esteem, and self-awareness of our children. Children are allowed to express themselves creatively through drama, music, dance, writing and reciting. This enrichment program excites children by utilizing active learning techniques that engage students in the learning process and produces long-term knowledge that can be applied in daily life. We encourage excellence in education, support and advocate for our students, as well as assists schools by providing alternative, diverse and effective learning activities that support all the modalities of learning—verbal, auditory and tactile/kinesthetic and so on.
The Children Shall Lead Them Production provides a modality-based instruction that reaches all learners and infuses cultural ways of learning and knowing. Through a variety of hands-on and movement-oriented activities, students will gain understanding and applicable skills of all academic concepts specifically in, reading and writing. Our goals and objectives strongly indicate our intention to encourage educational excellence, assist schools and work towards the improvement of education by creating inquiry-driven activities that engages students in the experience of meaningful learning while producing competence and success.

JUSTIFICATION OF NEED:
The Children Shall Lead Them Productions provides personalized remediation services to a number of diverse students who have experienced difficulty in perceiving and applying the knowledge that is taught in their schools. One key reason why children are experiencing these difficulties can be attributed to the fact that their learning style may be contrary to the teaching style of their teacher(s). Educators typically have a large list of curricula to address throughout the school year, it is challenging for them to accommodate all students consistently. Many students get left behind.
Most students learn with all their modalities (verbal, auditory and tactile/kinesthetic), but some students may have unusual strengths and weaknesses in particular modalities. Tactile/kinesthetic learners need to feel and touch to learn---these learners also learn better if movement is involved. They may be those students who are not doing well in school. Instruction geared to the auditory learner can be a hindrance to these students, causing them to fall behind. One key reason at-risk childrenhave trouble with school is that they tend to be these types of learners. About one-third of students does not process auditorially and are educationally deaf.
The Children Shall Lead Them Productions methodology of instruction integrates literacy oriented activities with creative expression enabling student-response, practice with decoding images and text, or reading; practice with encoding information visually and verbally, or drawing, writing and acting; speaking skills via peer sharing, peer mentoring, group critiques; and reading and writing aides including a group-constructed vocabulary, practice with constructive criticism, practice with scientific inquiry, and portfolio self-assessment. Thus, other instructional goals of this course for students and for teachers are:
v increased self-reliance as a thinker
v more accurate and compelling speaking, reading and writing skills more effective social and communication skills
v better trained critical and creative thinking skills
v habits of self-reflection
v an interest in self-assessment as a visual and verbal thinker
v curious, lively, open, engaged, cooperative, kindly and compassionate mind.
